Where is Páramo La Negra?

The paramo is located on the border of Táchira and Mérida states, in the northwestern part of the country, within the Páramos Batallón and La Negra National Park. The summit hosts a small coffee bar known as Cafetin el Portachuelo.

Is the road to Páramo La Negra paved?

The road to the summit is fully paved yet narrow with steep parts. It’s called Trans-Andean highway (Carretera Trasandina/Troncal7/Route 7). It’s a difficult road, with uncountable turns and twists and usually covered in mist and fog. 

How long is the road to Páramo La Negra?

The road through the paramo is 47.2 km (29.32 miles) long, running from La Grita, a town in the north west of Táchira state towards Bailadores, a town in the western part of the Mérida State, capital of the Rivas Dávila Municipality. The town of Bailadores was founded in 1578.
