Laguna Jochauma is a high mountain lagoon at an elevation of 4.947m (16,230ft) above the sea level, located in the Arequipa Region, Castilla Province, Orcopampa District of Peru.
The road to the lake, located in the Wansu mountain range in the Andes of Peru, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. The road is usually impassable in winters. 4x4 vehicle recommended. Due to the high elevations and exposure, the road is subject to strong winds and rapid weather changes. Do not take this drive if you have respiratory problems or any type of heart condition. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor at any time of year. It suffers the harsh meteorological conditions of the area every winter.
