Lagunas Quillcasca is a high mountain lagoon at an elevation of 4.920m (16,141ft) above the sea level, located in the Yauyos Province, in the Lima Region of Peru.
The road to the lake, located in the Cordillera Central in the Andes of Peru, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. The road is usually impassable in winters. 4x4 vehicle recommended. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Near the summit, oxygen is in short supply. The drive is very scenic with several glacial lakes.
