Laguna Huaroncocha
Laguna Huaroncocha is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 4.580m (15,026ft) above the sea level located in the province of Huaral in Peru.
The road to the lake is called Carretera 1NC. It’s gravel, narrow, and very muddy and slippery after rains. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters.
