Set high in the central Andean valley of the country, the road to the summit is totally unpaved and steep, hitting an 11% through some of the ramps. It’s usually very muddy after rains. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. It features 6 hairpin turns.

The road through the pass is 16km long running east-west from Tiliví to Embalse Chiquiurco, a high mountain reservoir, where it ends.
