Alto de La Línea in the Andes is the Colombian Stelvio
Alto de La Línea is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.271m (10,731ft) above the sea level, located on the boundary of Tolima and Quindío departments, in the Andean Region of Colombia.
Set high in the Cordillera Central or central range of the Andes mountains, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Ruta Nacional 40 and runs from Armenia to Ibagué. The pass, known as the Colombian Stelvio, is very steep, hitting a 14% of maximum slope through some of the ramps.
Due its brutality, in September 2020, the most challenging part of the road was bypassed by the 8,652 metres (28,386 ft) long Túnel de la Línea - Portal Galicia. The road is very busy with trucks.
