Alto de La Linea in the Andes is the Colombian Stelvio

Alto de La Línea is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.271m (10,731ft) above the sea level, located on the boundary of Tolima and Quindío departments, in the Andean Region of Colombia.

Where does Alto de La Linea start and end?

Set high in the Cordillera Central or central range of the Andes mountains, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Ruta Nacional 40 and runs from Armenia to Ibagué. Due its brutality, in September 2020, the most challenging part of the road was bypassed by the 8,652 metres (28,386 ft) long Túnel de la Línea - Portal Galicia.

Is Alto de La Linea steep?

The pass, known as the Colombian Stelvio, is very steep, hitting a 14% of maximum slope through some of the ramps. It has been part of the main cycling races in the country on multiple occasions, being the most important in Colombian cycling. This is a great climb with amazing scenery, but a lot of traffic.
