Pacana Caldera is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 4.658m (15,282ft) above the sea level located on a lunar landscape in the eastern part of the Atacama Desert of northern Chile in the Antofagasta Region. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Chile.
The road to the summit is gravel. This trail passes through remote areas, so you need to be prepared. Only 4x4 vehicles. It’s very steep, with sections up to 10%. Expect harsh conditions: high winds, cold and heavy snowfalls. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions.
