The mine is located in the ghost town of Aguas Calientes, near the border between Arica and Parinacota Region of Chile, and the province Tacna in Peru.

Is the road to Azufrera Tacora unpaved?

The road to the abandoned mine is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicles only. It is called A-107. Absolutely do not deviate from the road. The surrounding areas contain numerous active, unmarked landmines. Stay on the track at all times.
