The road to reach this remote, majestic, and quiet place is quite challenging. It is paved until reaching Baños Morales. The final 10km are unpaved and rocky, presenting a significant challenge. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, and passenger vehicles are clearly inadvisable.

How long is the road to Baños Colina natural pools?

Starting from Santiago, the capital of the country, the road, called Camino Al Volcán (Ruta G-25), is 76.4km (47.47 miles) long in the direction of Argentina. The road runs along a river passing through the valley, heading deeper into the mountains. It inclines for the whole journey but is not too steep. At the end of the trail, there’s a 3-kilometer walk to the stunning San José Volcano viewpoint.

Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Even in summer, air temperatures can be cool at the hot springs, especially in the evening and night, and weather can range from clear skies to heavy mist, drizzle, or rain (or snow), depending on the season. In the winter, the passage is completely cutoff, and it would be impossible to descend from heights to Santiago.
