Warning about High Altitude

Driving on this road, you’ll be all the time at about 5,000m (16,400ft) above sea level, where thin air and reduced oxygen levels pose serious risks. Visitors may experience altitude sickness, with symptoms like headache, dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath. The lack of oxygen can also affect vehicle performance, especially engines without turbocharging. Weather conditions can change rapidly, bringing snow, ice, and extreme cold even in summer. Always acclimatize gradually, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity until your body adapts. Carry warm clothing, water, and emergency supplies — help may be many hours away.
