Where is Pura Pura Pass?
The pass, named after the nearby Pura Pura lagoon, is located in the Franz Tamayo Province, near the Peruvian border, within the Ulla Ulla National Fauna Reserve.
Is the road to Pura Pura Pass unpaved?
The road through the pass is totally unpaved and extremely challenging. It’s locally known as Camino a Puina. It features many turns, narrow sections, and very steep parts. Near the summit, on the steepest parts, there are a few challenging and sharp hairpin turns. Combined with its remoteness, the drive is not easy. A 4x4 vehicle is required in order to complete the drive.
How long is the road through Pura Pura Pass?
The road through the summit is 15.61km (9.7 miles) long, running south-north from Rhity Apacheta Pass to Puina.
