The pass, also known as Abra Gigante, is located on the boundary between Jujuy and Salta provinces, in the northern part of the country.
How long is Abra del Gigante?
The road through the pass is totally unpaved, and not easy, as it features narrow parts, steep sections, and countless turns. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The road is 37km (23 miles) long, running south–north from Varas (in Jujuy Province) to Volcán Higueras (in Salta Province).
