The road is located in the central part of Washington, within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The drive is pretty impressive in spots.

How Long is the Road NF-9712?

The road is totally unpaved. It’s well maintained, with good solitude during the week. It is 47.31 km (29.4 miles) long and runs west–east from the village of Liberty towards Mission Ridge Road (711).

Is the Road NF-9712 Open?

This is a mountain road climbing out of South Wenatchee near Mission Ridge Ski Area and up to the top of Mission Ridge (trail). Its highest elevation is at 1,817 m (5,961 ft) above sea level. It’s usually impassable in winters.

The continued landslide potential in this area is very high and a significant public safety risk. As of June 2018, the road is impassable to cars and 4x4 vehicles just beyond the upper Mission Ridge Trail parking lot due to erosion in the road. Even 4x4 vehicles cannot pass because of the severity of the washouts and the erosion of the slope.
