Where is Hacking Lake?

The lake is located north of Vernal in the northeastern part of Utah. It is most popular for fishing Tiger trout and Rainbow trout.

Is the road to Hacking Lake unpaved?

The road to the lake is completely unpaved. It’s called Forest Road 262. A 4x4 vehicle is required. Starting from the challenging Forest Road 043, on the way to Leidy Peak, the road is 0.32 km (0.2 mile) long.

Is the road to Hacking Lake open in winter?

Set high near the east end of the Uintah Mountain Range, the road is completely impassable in winter. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor at any time of year.
