Where is Bear Lake Summit?

The pass is located on the boundary between Cache and Rich counties, on the northern edge of Utah, near the Idaho border, within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The Bear Lake Overlook Visitor Center is located near the summit.

Is Bear Lake Summit paved?

The road to the summit is fully paved and very scenic. It’s called US-89. It was built in 1926. The road is very steep on the way to the pass.

How long is Bear Lake Summit?

The road is 63.4km (39.4 miles) long, running west-east from Logan (in Cache County) to Garden City (in northwestern Rich County).

Is Bear Lake Summit open year-round?

Set high in the Bear River Range, at this elevation, the pass is the highest point of the US-89 in Utah. It’s open year-round, but short time closures are common in winters.
