Monument Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.040m (9,973ft) above sea level, located in El Dorado County, in the US state of California. It’s one of the highest roads of California.

The peak is located in the eastern part of California, near the border with Nevada, within the El Dorado National Forest.

Is the road to Monument Peak unpaved?

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, rocky and gravel. It’s a chairlift access trail. 4x4 vehicles only.

Is the road to Monument Peak open year-round?

Set high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the road is totally impassable in winters. This trail can be done only a very narrow time-frame in the summer (July- August).
