Located in the southeastern portion of Virginia in the United States, the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel is one of the most spectacular bridges in the world.
The bridge (MMMBT) links the city of Suffolk (south end) and Newport News on the peninsula (north). It’s 4.6 mile-long (7.4 km) and opened in 30 April 1992. The bridge-tunnel is a part of Interstate 664 (I-664). It is a four-lane bridge–tunnel composed of bridges, trestles, man-made islands, and tunnels.
