Terrible Mountain is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,662m (12,014ft) above sea level, located in Gunnison County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is one of the highest roads in Colorado.

The mountain is located south of Fairview Peak, in the central part of Colorado, within the Gunnison National Forest.
Is Terrible Mountain unpaved?
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It is called Terrible Mountain Road. It is a rough, narrow road with drop-offs. Vehicular traffic is not recommended. Proceed at your own risk. 4WD high clearance vehicles are recommended.
When is the best time to drive the road to Terrible Mountain?
Set high in the western part of the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, the road is totally impassable in winter. The best time to attempt the pass is between late July and early September.
