Where is Andrews Lake?

The alpine lake is located about 8 miles south of Silverton, near Molas Pass, in the southwestern part of Colorado, within the San Juan national forest.

Is the road to Andrews Lake paved?

The road to the lake was fully paved in the 2020’s. It is called Forest Road 590 (Andrews Lake Road). It ends on parking lot (around 25 parking spots) that gets crowded on weekends. Watch for livestock and wildlife, and keep speeds under 30 miles per hour.

How long is the road to Andrews Lake?

Starting from U.S. Highway 550, the Million Dollar Highway, the road to the summit is 0.6-mile long.

Is the road to Andrews Lake open year-round?

Set high in the Rockies, the road is not maintained in the winter.
