Wilson Peak

Wilson Peak

Wilson Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.719m (12,201ft) above the sea level, located in San Miguel County, Colorado, in United States. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Colorado.

The road to the summit, located in the San Miguel Mountains range of the Rocky Mountains, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. It’s an old mine road. The road is impassable from September to July. Great trail for experienced wheelers. The peak, also known as Coors Peak, is one of Colorado’s more iconic 14,000’. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. Located in the Lizard Head Wilderness of the Uncompahgre National Forest, a 4wd with high clearance vehicle is required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Wet conditions may make for tough driving along the muddy road. Wilson Peak is featured prominently in Quentin Tarantino's movie The Hateful Eight.
