A sensational drive to Louis Lake

Louis Lake is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.617m (8,585ft) above the sea level, located in Fremont County, in the U.S. state of Wyoming.

Louis Lake Road

Located on the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest, the road to the lake is called Forest Road 300 (Louis Lake Road). It’s known locally as the Loop Road. It’s mostly asphalted with many hairpin turns. No trailers over 24 feet allowed. The road tops out at 2.927m (9,603ft) above the sea level.

The road is closed in winters and normally opens around Memorial Day. It’s 59.06km (36.7 miles) long, running north-south from Lander, the county seat of Fremont County to Dickinson Avenue, north of Atlantic City.
