The peak is located north of Tonopah, in the central part of Nevada.

The road is totally unpaved. It’s called NF-441. It comprises narrow sections and steep parts, with 5 sharp hairpin turns. A 4x4 vehicle is required. It follows numerous remnants of Nevada's mining heritage.

Starting from Round Mountain, the road to the summit is 11.74km (7.3 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 942m (3,091 ft) and the average gradient is 8.02%.

Is the road to Spanish Peak open year-round?

Set high in the Toquima Range, the road is totally impassable in winters due to heavy snowfalls in the area.
