Osha Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3034m (9,954ft) above sea level, located in Colfax County, in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It’s one of the highest roads of New Mexico.

The pass is located south of Angel Fire, in the northern part of New Mexico, within the Carson National Forest. 

Is the road to Osha Pass unpaved? 

The road to the summit is totally unpaved and pretty rocky. It’s called Forest Road 76 (Osha Pass Road). It features very steep parts. A 4x4 vehicle is required.

How long is the road to Osha Pass?

Starting from the paved NM-434, the road to the summit is 6.59km (4.1 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 381m (1,253 ft) and the average gradient is 5.78%.

Is the road to Osha Pass open year-round? 

Set high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the road is not plowed in winters.
