Is the road to Middle Mountain unpaved?

Located in the central part of Colorado, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called Peek-A-Boo Gulch Road. 4WD with good clearance vehicles are required. Full size vehicles should not attempt to drive all the way, as there are a few very narrow spots.

How long is the road to Middle Mountain?

Starting from Everett, the road to the summit is 11.1 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 607 m and the average gradient is 5.46%. Along the way you’ll follow the South Fork Lake Creek. Remember to bring your own water. The water of the creek is not good to drink. You'll realize that if you taste it. It is acidic, and has high levels of aluminum, iron, and a little arsenic and copper.

Is the road to Middle Mountain open year-round?

Set high in the Sawatch Range, the road is totally impassable in winters.
