Located in the Manti–La Sal National Forest in central Utah, the road, which is part of Utah Highway 29, runs 45.8 miles (73.70km) west-east from Ephraim in Sanpete County to Orangeville in northwestern Emery County. It was built in 1927.

Is Ephraim Canyon Road in Manti–La Sal National Forest paved?

The road currently has both paved and unpaved sections. Although it was once entirely unpaved, work began to pave it on Thursday, August 22, 2019. It is expected to be fully paved shortly.

How challenging is Ephraim Canyon Road in Utah?

The road is quite challenging, reaching elevations of up to 3,146m (10,321ft) above sea level. It has steep sections, climbing 5,000 feet in 15 miles. There are some sharp turns, so it's advisable to keep speeds low. A high-clearance vehicle is required.
