Where is Arta Lake?

The lake is located in the northeastern part of Utah, within the Ashley National Forest.

Is the road to Arta Lake unpaved?

The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called Forest Road 143 (FR 143). It comprises narrow parts and steep sections. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Most of the road runs along South Fork Rock Creek.

How long is the road to Arta Lake?

Starting from Forest Road 135, the road to the summit is 7.40km (4,6 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 420m (1.378 ft) and the average gradient is 5.67%.

Is the road to Arta Lake open year-round?

Set high in the Uinta Mountains, the road is not plowed in winters. It’s usually impassable from November through June.
