The ridge is located east of Burnt Ridge, north of Duchesne, in the northeastern part of Utah.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, with loose rocks. It comprises many steep sections, with 3 hairpin turns. It’s called Forest Road 199. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

Is the road to Big Ridge open year-round?

Set high in the Uinta Mountains, the road is not plowed in winters.

Starting from Forest Road 197, the road to the summit is 6.11km (3.8 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 605m (1,985 ft) and the average gradient is 9.90%.
