The road to the summit is totally unpaved and parts are tough. It’s called West White Pine Road (#100). A 4x4 vehicle is required. Expect a trail pretty steep.

Starting from County Road 44H, the road to the summit is 2.89km (1.8 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 396m (1,299 ft) and the average gradient is 13.70%.

Is the road to White Pine Pass open year-round?

Set high in the Front Range, the road is not plowed in winters. It’s usually impassable from December to May.
