The ice road to Nuiqsut

Nuiqsut is a small village located on the Colville River Delta, 35 miles from the Beaufort Sea, in North Slope Borough, Alaska, United States. It is said to be the most northern town with road access. The town is accessible 4 months out of the year, January through April, via an ice road.

This seasonal 62.09 mi (99.93 km) ice road links the village to Prudhoe Bay (Dalton Highway). Historically it was available for between 5 and 7 months of the year. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Temperature remains below freezing most of the year, rising above freezing only 122 per year. July is the warmest month. A road is being built to connect Nuiqsut to the road system, through Conoco Phillips Alpine Oil reserve.
