The road from Goffs to Ivanpah, a drive through high desert scenery

The road from Goffs to Ivanpah is a very scenic drive located in the Lanfair Valley, in the Mojave Desert in southeastern California near the Nevada state line.

Goffs-Ivanpah Road

Located in San Bernardino County, the road is 58.58km (36.4 miles) long, running south-north from Goffs, a ghost mine town in the Mojave Desert to Ivanpah via Lanfair. The start and the end of the road are paved, but the central section is graded dirt. The road normally is fine for sedans during the dry season, but it can become washed out during storms. Damage at washes; a few sandy areas. High clearance recommended.

The road is steep, topping out at 1.501m (4,924ft) above the sea level. The drive is very scenic. It provides fabulous high desert scenery, including the New York Mountains, Castle Peaks, Lanfair Valley and Hackberry Mountains.
