The gulch is located on the eastern side of Owyhee Lake, in eastern Oregon, within the Honeycomb Wilderness in the Lake Owyhee State Park. It was named after a local rancher, Hiram E. Leslie, who was hit by lightning here in 1882.

The road to the gulch is totally unpaved, descending through stunning rock formations. It’s a well-maintained gravel road, navigable by almost all passenger vehicles, but only in dry conditions. The road can at times get a little narrow. Remember, winding, narrow road segments limit your ability to see approaching vehicles.
