A scenic paved road to Mores Creek Summit in ID
Mores Creek Summit is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.871m (6,138ft) above the sea level, located in Boise County, in the U.S. state of Idaho.
Set high in the Boise National Forest, in southwest Idaho, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Idaho State Highway 21, aka the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway. Access to the pass is typically open all year round, with the occasional closure in winters due to dangerous weather conditions. The summit hosts a large parking lot with an intersection with various forest roads, including one to Pilot Peak and one to Sunset Mountain.
The scenic pass road is 53.43km (33.2 miles) long running north-south from Lowman to Idaho City, the county seat of Boise County. The road to the summit is very steep, hitting an 11% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
