Fantastic Caverns is Missouri’s Only Drive-Through Cave

Where is Fantastic Caverns?

The cavern sits just north of Springfield, beneath the rolling Ozarks hills, approximately five miles off Historic Route 66 and about an hour north of Branson.

What’s inside Fantastic Caverns?

During the 55-minute ride-through tour, propane-powered Jeep-drawn trams follow the path of an ancient underground river. The one-mile route provides close-up views of spectacular cave formations, including giant columns, delicate soda straws, and tiny cave pearls hidden in crystal-clear water.

Is the cave accessible for everyone?

The tram tour requires no walking, and the vehicles are equipped with pull-out ramps for wheelchair access. This makes the cave ideal for older visitors, families with small children, and anyone with physical limitations. The cave maintains a constant temperature of around 60°F (15°C) year-round, ensuring a comfortable, all-weather experience.

How long is the tour?

The full tour lasts about 55 minutes along the one-mile tram route, offering a relaxed, immersive experience without any physical strain.

Fantastic Caverns is open year-round, giving visitors a unique underground driving adventure regardless of the weather. Guests can simply show up, buy tickets, and board the next available tram for the ride-through experience.
