Requa Road is a steep coastal drive in California

Requa Road (Patrick J Murphy Memorial Road) is a steep coastal drive located in Del Norte County, in the US state of California. The road is a little bumpy but definitely worth the trip. It’s one of the most scenic drives in the Redwood National and State Parks.

The road is located north of Klamath in the northern part of California, within the Redwood National and State Parks.

Is Requa Road paved?

The hillside curvy road is fully paved. Not recommended driving this road at night, as there are no markings, lights or anything. The area is often covered by the fog. The road is dangerous due the lack of guardrails. Motorhomes/RVs and trailers not advised.

It’s 3.86 km (2.4 miles) long starting from the paved U.S. 101.

How steep is Requa Road?

The road is very steep and narrow and ends at the Klamath River Overlook perched 650 feet above sea level Starting from U.S. 101 road, the elevation gain is 187 meters. The average gradient is 4.84%.
