Bucareli is a small town located in Querétaro, in the central part of Mexico, within the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve. This town hosts one of the oldest churches in the country in ruins.

The road to the town is commonly known as Carrretera a Bucareli. It’s totally unpaved. To access this area, you should be prepared for the descent and ascend going into and back from this place. The drive comprises 36 hairpin turns and very steep parts. A high clearance vehicle is required.

How long is the road to Bucareli?

The road is 21.3 km long. It runs north-south from Mexico 120, at 2.510 meters above sea level, and runs down into a canyon located at 1.080 meters above sea level, before reaching the town.
