The road is totally paved. It starts from Guadalajara, at 1.520m (4,986ft) above sea level and goes down to the canyon river at 920 masl.

Is the Huentitan Canyon Route worth the drive?

The drive is very scenic and provides great views of Huentitan canyon and Santiago river. In the rainy season the area is covered in green and many waterfalls appears around the canyon walls.
