Fortress Mountain Resort is a ski resort at an elevation of 2.075m (6,807ft) above the sea level, located in Alberta, Canada. The resort is the location for sublime mountain cinematography.
It’s one of the highest roads of the country. The road to the resort is a narrow, winding, unpaved mountain road pretty steep. Perched high-up in the spectacular Kananaskis River Valley of Kananaskis Park of the Canadian Rockies the mountain has been the go-to location for sublime mountain cinematography. The resort has been used as a backdrop for some of Hollywood’s blockbusters: ‘Inception,’ ‘The Bourne Legacy’, ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘The Revenant’, ‘Cold Pursuit’, ‘The Claim’, ‘Van Helsing’ and ‘RV’ as well as many television commercials. Starting from Kananaskis Trail, the road to the resort is 7.6 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 481 meters. The average gradient is 6.32%.
