Is the road to Moab Lake unpaved?

The road to the lake is totally unpaved, meandering along the Whirlpool River. It’s called Range Road 280B (Moab Lake Road). The road is rough in parts, so it is slow going. It’s navigable by passenger vehicles, but high clearance is recommended.

How long is the road to Moab Lake?

Starting at the paved AB-93A, the drive is 6.8 km (4.22 miles) long. The drive is very scenic, and there are a few pretty spots to stop at.

Is the road to Moab Lake open in winter?

Set high in the Canadian Rockies, it’s usually closed during the winter (mid-October to mid-April/May).
