An adventure road to Girdev Gölü

Girdev Lake is a seasonal lake located in the Muğla Province in the Aegean region of Turkey, at an elevation of 1.880m (6,167ft) above the sea level. The road to the lake doesn’t appear in most of the maps and is an adventure road. Expect an evil dirt track, big holes, large puddles and big stones that smash loudly into the chassis all the time.

Girdev Gölü

The road to the lake, also known as Girdiv, is unpaved, steep, and very challenging. Located in the Turkish Mediteranean zone, the road starts off at 200m above sea level rising to circa 2000m through pine and cedar forests then on up into the summer pasture areas, passing some nice viewpoints along the way.

Due its unique location and the climb in elevation over thousands of feet, and passing through remote areas, it is important when driving in these conditions to be prepared. 4x4 car is recommended. In order to access it stony tracks must be negotiated at altitudes of more than 2.000 metres.
