How long is the Karabet Geçidi pass road?

Set high on the eastern part of the country, the road to the summit, also known as Krapet Geçidi, is called Bahcesaray-Catak road. It's totally paved. The road includes a series of thrilling hairpin bends. The road is 42.7 km (26.53mi) long, running west-east from the village of Bahçesaray to Gevaş Çatak Yolu Road.

The road can be closed anytime due to the bad weather. When the snow falls - which it does in the winter – things get tough and slippery. Here the spring arrives with a blaze of glorious colourful wild flowers. It is said by the locals that they ‘belong to God for half the year'. It's one of the highest roads of the country.
