Ovit Geçidi is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.690m (8,825ft) above the sea level located between Rize Province and Erzurum Province in northeastern Turkey. It’s one of the highest paved roads of the country.
The road over the pass is asphalted. It’s called D925. It’s pretty steep. This road can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow. The pass is planned to be bypassed by a tunnel. It is difficult to keep the pass open to traffic during the winters because of the harsh weather conditions due to high altitude.
