Ovit Geçidi is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.690m (8,825ft) above the sea level located between Rize and Erzurum Provinces in northeastern Turkey. It’s one of the highest paved roads of the country.
The road to the summit is paved with some steep parts. It’s called D925 (Rize İspir Yolu). It is difficult to keep the pass open to traffic during the winters because of the harsh weather conditions due to high altitude.
Ovit Geçidi is located between the villages of Sivrikaya and Çapans. Due its location, it’s possible to see snow on the summer. The pass was bypassed by a tunnel called Ovit Tüneli.
