Kop Geçidi

Kop Geçidi, one of the highest paved roads of Turkey

Kop Geçidi is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.409m (7,903ft) above the sea level located in the Erzurum Province in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey.

The road over the pass is asphalted. It’s called D915, part of the European Route 97. It’s pretty steep. This road can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow. If you've got your own vehicle, it's worth stopping for the views.

At the summit there’s a memorial, and not far a bar-restaurant. It is difficult to keep the pass open to traffic during the winters because of the harsh weather conditions due to high altitude.

NOTICE: Due to the spread of COVID-19, many points of interest and roads are closed and travel is not recommended. Please follow all local health authority directives before venturing off, and stay safe.
