The peak, also known as Buyukhacet and Ilgaz Hacet, is located in the Western Black Sea region, in the northern part of the country. The views at the summit are stunning on clear days. To the south of the peak is located the Küçük Hacet Tepesi.
Is the road to Büyük Hacet Tepesi peak unpaved?
Set high in the Ilgaz Mountains, the road to the summit is entirely unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. Starting on the paved D765, the road climbs up to the peak on the northern side.
How challenging is the road to Büyük Hacet Tepesi?
The dirt road to the summit is really challenging, with narrow parts, big rocks, and dangerous drops. Landslides and rock slides can block the road anytime, so it's better to check the conditions before facing the drive, as the road might be impassable. In winters, the road is totally blocked due to the snow.
