The pass is 59km (36 miles) long, running north-south from Erzurum (capital of Erzurum Province) to Taşkesen. 

Is Palandöken Geçidi open year-round?

Set high in the Palandöken Mountains range, the entire road is subject to heavy snowfalls which lead to frequent road closures in winters.
