Palandöken Geçidi

Palandöken Geçidi is an absolute must for road lovers

Palandöken Geçidi is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.897m (9,504ft) above the sea level, located in the province of Erzurum, in Turkey. It's one of the highest roads of Europe.

Set high in the Palandöken Mountains range, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called provincial road 25-26. The entire road is subject to heavy snowfalls which lead to frequent road closures.

Tucked away on the eastern part of the country, the pass is 59km (36 miles) long, running north-south from Erzurum (capital of Erzurum Province) to Taşkesen. It's one of the highest paved roads of the country.
