Set high in the İspir District, the road is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The road is 30.3 km (18.82 miles) long, and runs south-north from Zeyrek to Aşağı Özbağ. When the snow falls - which it does in the winter – things get tough and slippery. Plan about 2 hours to complete the drive without any stop.
The road tops out at 2.701m (8,861ft) above the sea level. It features steep sections, hitting a 21% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The road is not easy, with 30 hairpin turns.
