Olgunlar Yaylası-Hüngamek Road, recommended for drivers with strong nerves

Located in the Artvin Province, on the Black Sea coast in the northeastern corner of Turkey, the road from Olgunlar Yaylası to Hüngamek is not for the sissies. It’s recommended for drivers with strong nerves. It’s one of the highest roads of Europe.

The curvy mountain road is totally unpaved, with dangerous drop offs, featuring 28 hairpin turns. It’s 17km (10.56 miles) long, running from Olgunlar Yaylası to Hüngamek. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. The road tops out at 3.090m (10,137ft) above the sea level. 4x4 vehicle recommended due its steepness. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
