Route Chalais-Vercorin

Route Chalais-Vercorin is a very scenic drive located in the heart of the Rhone valley, in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Route Chalais-Vercorin

The road is asphalted. It’s very fun to ride with curves at the edge of the abyss. The road does get busier at weekends and in the main holiday season. In peak periods, over one thousand vehicles drive up the road.

Located in the Swiss Alps, the road is 10.2 km long. It links the villages of Chalais and Vercorin. There are 3 narrow tunnels along the way, totally impassable for 2 cars at the same time. Height limit is 4 meters. Frequent low-energy rockfalls permanently endanger the road traffic and the section between several tunnels.
